What is Generation Esports?
Generation Esports is a youth esports organization that has been building competitive gaming communities since 2012. Starting with the High School Esports League, the company expanded to include the Middle School Esports League and the Parks & Recreation Esports League — supporting thousands of schools nationwide across up to 15 game titles and four seasons per year. Their proprietary platform connects students, schools, and communities through the lens of competitive gaming.
My Contributions
Hired as the company's first marketing employee, I built the entire marketing function from scratch and led it through one of the most critical growth periods in the company's history — scaling from a team of one to six as the company grew from 7 to 75 employees in 18 months.
Drove 375% gross revenue growth, a 41% revenue-per-user increase, and 1,500% YoY impression growth from 2019 to 2020 — directly contributing to a $10.8M Series A funding round.
Built and led a six-person marketing team, hiring across creative, content, and campaign functions to support rapid company-wide growth.
Managed a quarterly marketing budget of ~$125K across campaigns, tools, and team resources.
Executed $10M+ in B2B partnership activations with Verizon, Walmart, US Army, ASUS, Intel, Lenovo, and LG — collaborating with sales teams to penetrate new esports markets.
Directed integrated marketing strategy and content across four brands: High School Esports League, Middle School Esports League, Generation Esports, and Parks & Recreation Esports League.
Grew Twitch average viewership by 352% and hours watched by 61% through a comprehensive streaming strategy — including talent acquisition, creative production, and sponsor deliverables — creating a new sponsorship revenue stream via pre-roll and mid-roll ads, caster reads, and logo placements.
